Wine tasting with Divino in Vino

Last week I was very kindly invited along to a wine tasting with the team at Divino in Vino. The older I get, the more inquisitive I get about wine, its history and provenance, the flavours you can explore and the many types of wine you can enjoy. So the chance to attend a wine tasting (along with a bevvy of lovely bloggers who I always enjoy catching up with) was a golden one.

We met in Pidgin, the most delightful little restaurant in Hackney (and owner of its very own Michelin star). We were to take over the premises to be guided through a six wine tasting by the lovely Silvia, a wine expert who has been working in the field for several years and whose passion and expertise inspired her to start Divino in Vino, to arrange wine tastings that help people to explore the many wines available.

We were taken through a tasting of six different wines, from fizzy cava to refreshing whites, to rich and spicy reds, alongside a pretty board of cheeses and olives.

I was so impressed with Silvia's knowledge and how accessible she made the experience - we had sheets for tasting notes with lots of helpful pointers and vocabulary included and the wine selections were the perfect balance of known tastes and aromas (citrusy cava, peppery reds) and unusual choices (one white had a bouquet of mushrooms and a slightly ferric tang, but upon drinking revealed a refreshing, citrusy/salty flavour).

We spent the evening sipping, chatting, and generally having a lovely time. It was such a nice opportunity to get together, enjoy some tasty wine and food, and do a little learning too!

Thank you to Silvia for having us. Kelly, Viki, Charley, Erica and Jasmin, loved seeing you - Erica, thank you also for inviting and co-ordinating us all!

Kelly showing it's all about balance!

Visit Divino in Vino over on Eventbrite for upcoming events - lots of great tastings on the horizon!

Disclaimer: As mentioned above, I was hosted for free. All opinions and ideas, as well as random tasting notes, my own.
