Nanjing Publishing House launched the first series of the ??Nanjing Intangible Cultural Heritage? on June 20. It is the first time for the institution to plan serial books to popularize the knowledge of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.ge.

Nanjing??s cultural heritages, such as Nanjing Ming Royal Tomb, are widely known. But not many people are familiar with its variety of intangible Cultural Heritage.

The publishing of the serial books, 10 books in the first series, is hoped to show the unique charm of Nanjing culture, said Lu Haiming, vice president of the publishing house, who added that the books feature on intangible cultural heritages of the provincial level or higher in Nanjing.

Refreshingly, the serial books use traditional Chinese accordion binding. And each book is 1.5 meters long after being opened. On the front side is a scroll picture of each project demonstrated in ways of hand-painted pictures or photographic works. On the back is the Chinese-English introduction of historical origins and cultural connotation of the projects.

The series also attaches a drawing of the intangible cultural heritages in Nanjing which records a full list and their places.

The second series will focus on the pedigree of the inheritors of the intangible cultural heritages in Nanjing, said Lu.
