Anger

Good day and welcome to my blog. Today, I’m going to speak on a topic familiar to probably every man on the face of the earth. Our unfriendly friend, to some people it may seem non-existent to others it’s their main imperfection. In some people it’s as obvious as a signboard and others as anonymous as a dust particle but one thing is constant and that’s the fact that we all have Anger, in other words, we all get angry. Before I dig in, I want to hope you’ve read my previous post about my poem on Anger,  I really hope you could relate to it.

With that out of the way, it’s time to discuss Anger. Anger, what can I say is an emotion peculiar to all of man. I won’t pretend to be Mr. Perfect in when it comes to this topic, because it is something I’m also struggling with. We all have had periods of times, when a little word or reference to past occurrences make us blow our top, some its reference to an insecurity or whatever it takes to get you to the bus stop of Anger, all that really matters is that we know getting angry isn’t good.

If you didn’t know that already, I’m going to tell you why. When we get angry there’s an overload of emotions in us and we tend to do irrational things. Man has been described as an irrational being that acts on emotion; now imagine how man behaves when he is overloaded with emotions. He acts irrational, he gets tense, does things he would normally not do, says things he would normally not say, or in extreme cases like the young man in the poem you might take another’s life. When we get angry we change our world, for some cases anger causes positive change (rare) but for most others it is for the bad. Relationships break, trusts get broken, feelings get hurt, name it, the consequences of anger are terrible.

One thing we need to know is that anger is inevitable. So from whatever side of the table you might be sitting on, you might get angry frequently, occasionally, once in a blue moon, what we all need is something to keep our anger in check, to learn how to prevent the negative changes to our world that anger brings because let’s be honest the world is already bad enough (lol).

I came across this in my self-medication Book “Attitude is everything” by Keith Harrell, my best book on the planet. It is a book I feel we should all have a copy of. It’s my self-medication book, because sometimes I have struggles with my attitude and this keeps me in check. A technique employed in the book is to realize that you always have a choice. A choice to be happy, or sad, or angry, or excited either ways you have a choice. Nothing can make you angry without your consent and that’s the key.

Another is to surround yourself with things or people that make you happy, you can opt for comedy remember laughter is the best medicine or that friend you can talk things through with. You could pick up a favorite book or movie anything to take you to your happy place.

Also, there’s no tree without a root. So there’s something I want you to do, and that’s to identify those things that make you angry. They might be past issues, insecurities and work through them either with someone or with yourself because they are the fuel that ignite the fire that is anger. When those insecurities become normal to you, they would no more be reasons to be angry instead they become reasons to be happy.

So, work through your insecurities, remember you have a choice, be surrounded by things that make you happy and doing that everyday would keep the anger away. You can find your own way of keeping anger in check, these are just suggestions not limitations.

If you found this helpful, don’t keep it to yourself, spread it because out there might be someone who needs it more than you.
