Summary of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Legal Secretary is responsible for providing assistance to attorneys, paralegals and other administrative personnel. Responsibilities include typing and editing legal and other documents (including correspondence, memoranda, timesheets and project work) from transcription tapes, handwritten or typed materials; handling telephone calls and conference calls to/from attorneys, clients and staff; processing mail; preparing and processing new client matter reports, time sheets and expense reports; scheduling and coordinating conferences, meetings and appointments; coordinating travel arrangements; managing work flow; providing assistance to visitors, summer associates and attorneys whose secretaries are absent; and accepting overflow work from others.
Legal Secretaries are expected to perform all job duties with a commitment to providing superior service to clients, producing quality work products, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Specialized legal secretarial, associate and/or bachelor's degrees is desirable but not
required
Minimum 3 years experience working as a legal secretary
Expertise in Windows and MS Office applications
60 wpm typing
Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills
Ability to meet deadlines and respond to changing priorities
