Outages and email spams dealt with in a timely manner? Thank your SysAdmin.

They are constantly on the move, making sure everything IT is running as smoothly as possible. SysAdmins make sure our technological lives are never interrupted. In celebration of SysAdmin Day, we here at Samanage want to highlight our own SysAdmins, Chris Greer and Donald Norman.

You might find Greer setting up company town halls to include Samanage offices around the globe. Norman could be configuring hardware or finding the perfect application to simplify our lives.

“We are responsible for the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of any device or piece of hardware that is used by the company,” Greer says. “Without a SysAdmin at the helm, it would be electronic martial law. You’ve seen The Walking Dead right? Imagine an office like that… just without the zombies.”

Technology is constantly evolving, and keeping up is imperative for a SysAdmin.

“Tech is an ever-changing world and we need to be on top of our game to make sure we are providing the latest and greatest services to Samanage employees.” Norman says. “We keep our company running with the best software and hardware available to make their day to day tasks much easier. Problem solving skills and patience are keys to a good SysAdmin.”

A SysAdmin’s job isn’t easy, but they love what they do. Greer and Norman bring their enthusiasm for technology to our Cary, NC, headquarters every day.

“I enjoy the challenge and interaction with our Samanage employees as well as being involved with the decisions that are made behind new software or upgrades to our office,” Greer says. “My job role is a little more expanded than a traditional SysAdmin which is something I really love. Fixing things on the fly, finding a solutions to problems and taking things apart — I LOVE IT!”
