2018 is the Year of Women in Technology

It seems as though there is no better year than 2018 to celebrate International Women’s Day. We’ve all read the headlines, and while yes there seems to be a negative stories surrounding the success of Women in the workplace, that couldn’t be further from the truth within the global walls of the Samanage organization. With 32% of global employees being women (a force growing larger every day), every day we are redefining the impact women can make in technology.

As our good friend, Marc Benioff said, “We’re greater when we are equal.” More often than not, when you think of the tech industry, you’re thinking of a dude behind a computer coming up with some super innovative stuff. I’m proud to share that at Samanage, while we absolutely LOVE all of the guys on our team, there are plenty of women stepping up and changing the technology landscape with their vision for service management.

The very definition of tech is innovative, and as we wrap up a historic International Women’s Day, I thought you should hear from the women of Samanage and how technology has made an impact on how they innovate, collaborate, and strive for greatness.

“Technology is often thought to be a male-dominated industry, and some women may find themselves feeling alone in this type of environment. I find myself lucky enough to be surrounded by amazing technology, and super smart and ambitious people. At Samanage, there are so many role models (men and women!) to look up to and learn from.”

Laura Miller, Director of Sales at Samanage

“Over time, women have made some incredible strides socially, culturally and politically. For me, moving from banking to the tech industry, was no exception to see where women have started and how our presence has grown! It’s inspiring to see females on the front lines of service management, driving and in some cases pioneering technology initiatives in their organization as a CIO, or being the brilliant brains behind the code of an application. When I take a look around Samanage, females’ presence and influence spreads the spectrum. I get to see the hard work our rockstar female developers create, watch my counterparts lead amazing demos to prospects, see the brains of our female implementation specialists onboard clients with grace, how our marketing ladies bring what we sell to life – it’s nothing short of incredible! #whoruntheworld?”

Liz Beckner, Solutions Consultant at Samanage

“Being a woman in technology means being surrounded by amazing technology and crazy smart, ambitious people. The tech space is very intriguing for a woman: The pace of innovation and change. The openness to do things differently, and good ideas are always welcome from anyone, regardless of age or sex. How awesome is that?”

Kayla King, Marketing Events and Campaigns Manager at Samanage

“Right now, there is a lot of awareness around the gender gap in the tech industry. I’m extremely grateful to be part of an organization where each individual player, regardless of gender, is valued and groomed for growth. The community of women at Samanage are empowered and admired, not only by fellow female teammates, but by every colleague across the board. Now, more than ever, we have the opportunity positively change the tech scene!”

Hannah Zurn, People Team Generalist at Samanage

“Technology is the perfect career choice for innovative women looking for a place to be challenged and stand out. It may seem intimidating to enter a male dominated frontier as a young women interested in information technology, but as I look around at the desks of the numerous women here at Samanage, I am empowered! My team is heavily involved in the technical side of our product here at Samanage and the women on my team actually outnumber the men! There is nothing we can’t do as individuals here and certainly nothing we can’t accomplish as a team.”

Sarah Nielsen, Senior Implementation Specialist at Samanage

“I almost always get two questions whenever I tell people that I’m in technical software sales.  First, how did I get into it? And, second, do I ever have any issues since I’m a woman? The first answer is always the same, Samanage. They took a chance on me and believed that I could do this job even when I didn’t. I didn’t have the specific background they were looking for, but I had drive and curiosity — that is what Samanage cares about. Samanage has pushed me to keep learning and to never get bored. Our CEO, Doron, is personally invested in the development of each member of this company. So, do I ever run into issues being a women in tech? Sure. But, I know that my company is behind me 100%.”

Stephanie Davis, Senior Enterprise Solutions Engineer at Samanage

Happy International Women’s Day! At Samanage, we will continue to encourage women to pursue their dreams, feel empowered, and change every piece of technology they see an opportunity for!
