At the beginning of every new year, the Fluid management team hosts a retreat for the company. We discuss the previous year and determine the next year’s goals. As part of this year’s retreat we were presented with the Four P’s to expand each of our own goals. The Four P’s include personal, professional, performance and philanthropy. We were all encouraged to set up our goals for each of the four categories in both our work and personal lives. In addition, Fluid also asked for suggestions on an annual philanthropic contribution that we as a company would be interested in. The idea was enthusiastically embraced and although we are still deciding on the organization we want to dedicate our time to, it made me think about all of the ‘good deeds’ Fluid participated in over the past six months. Here are few of my favorites:

Craft Kits for the Children at Primary Children’s Hospital

In October in celebration of Halloween, the Fluid team gathered together to create craft Kits. The kits included monster paper puppets and the supplies for a child to create their own duct tape flowers kits (with instructions), and other fun activities. We made a total of 100 kits that were dropped off in time for the hospital’s Halloween party.

Start Up Santa Book Drive

During the month of November Fluid participated in the Start Up Santa Book drive which challenges businesses to collect new books for children who do not have access to books they can read at home. Over 300 books were donated by the Fluid team. In addition, we also donated our time to read one-on-one to a child in their classroom. The kids were so excited to have the personal attention.

YWCA Donation in honor of International Women’s Day

On March 8^th in celebration of International Women’s Day, Fluid held a celebration. Everyone, including the men, joined for a lunch of purple foods and a presentation on women who have made a difference throughout history. We also contacted the YWCA and collected needed items for their women’s shelter. We were able to collect three large boxes of clothing, toiletries, sheet sets, diapers and baby products. The shelter was very grateful for the donation and the Fluid team felt good contributing.

We have all heard that doing good for others creates a feeling of happiness within ourselves. Each of us here at Fluid know that statement to be true. I am proud that Fluid encourages and supports so many charitable causes and I look forward our contribution in the future. I encourage you to become involved in any of the causes mentioned above. Or choose one of your own. You’ll be happy you did.
