Make a fun Santa hat from flowers

Christmas is the perfect opportunity for getting creative. Not only with crafts and cooking, but also your décor. If you want a centrepiece that will certainly stand out, then you will love this festive Flower design for your table.

You will need:

  • Carnations (red and white)
  • Floral foam (in the shape of a cone)
  • Plastic dish to support the arrangement
  • Evergreen foliage

Method:

  • If you are not able to find a cone-shaped floral foam, you can buy a cylindrical or large rectangular-shaped piece and shape it according to your needs.
  • Soak the foam in fresh water and then place it on the plastic tray.
  • Start by trimming the stems of your foliage and arrange one row of greenery around the base of the foam so as to conceal it. The foliage should be facing down towards the table.
  • Now trim the stems of your white carnations and arrange them around the base so that there is no foam visible between the foliage and these white blooms. Make sure that you keep one white carnation for the top of the hat.
  • Add a row of red carnations and continue these rows until you reach the top.
  • Leave just enough space for one white carnation at the top of the design.

It’s important to note that you do not need to insert the stems of the flowers all the way into the Foam. This means that you can shape the design as you go. The lower flowers should have the longest stems while those closest to the top need to have their stems trimmed significantly shorter.
