Fun floral cocktails

Summer is cocktail season and the perfect opportunity to mix your favourite drinks as well as try something new. When you find your favourites, you’ll be dying to share them with your friends and family at the next party! Cocktails are usually thought of as fruity alcoholic beverages but these recipes will show you how to add some fabulous floral flare.

The Aviation Cocktail

This cocktail first met the lips of lucky New Yorkers around the turn of the 19th century. To make it, you need:

  • 2 oz gin
  • ¾ oz lemon juice
  • ½ oz maraschin liqueur
  • ¼ oz crème de violette
  • 1 edible violet

Fill your cocktail shaker with ice. Add all of the liquid ingredients to the shaker and shake for about 10 seconds. Strain into your serving glass and garnish with that perfect edible violet. Enjoy!

The Rose Margarita

This takes your average margarita to a whole new level! It’s all about the rose syrup and those luxurious rose petals! To make it, you will need:

  • 1 ½ oz blanco tequila
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ¾ oz rose syrup
  • ¾ oz orange liqueur
  • Hibiscus and rose salt
  • 3 rose petals (organic is best)

Start by preparing your margarita glass. Rim it with the hibiscus and rose salt. Fill a shaker with ice before adding all of the liquid ingredients. Shake until everything is well-mixed. Pour the mixture into the prepared glass and add your petals to garnish.

These are just two delicious Floral Cocktails you should try this summer. Remember, you can always add some floral décor to any cocktail simply by choosing the right flower. Another important tip is to always ensure that you use edible and organic flowers in cocktails to avoid negative reactions. Flowers and flower petals should be washed thoroughly before adding to the drink.
