7 Sure-Fire Tips for Choosing the Right Pool Cleaner Using Only a Cell Phone

There are so many Pool cleaning services in the south Florida area. How can you be sure you hired the right one? Here are six things to do, using only your cell phone:

  1. First, locate several pool cleaners in your area with web sites. Local businesses have more of a vested interest to ensure the satisfaction of their customers than national companies.

Next, check the web site of each company for the following:

  1. Are they licensed? Some companies claim to be licensed, but they are talking about a generic business license. You want a pool cleaner that is licensed by the State of Florida as a pool contractor, Electric & Gas Industries Association (EGIA) certified, and certified by the National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF). Experience counts. Plus, most people will use the same company for future pool repairs and renovations; so the state license is essential.
  2. Are they insured and bonded? You are asking complete strangers to come and work on your property. Unfortunately, employees sometimes are dishonest or accidents do happen. Ensure any damage to your property is covered and these strangers have been vetted by a bonding company.
  3. How long have they been in business? The longer the better. Experience is important. Pool cleaning is more than just skimming debris off the water surface. It is knowing chemical compositions and levels needed and checking mechanicals.
  4. What services and packages do they offer? The pool cleaner you choose should offer all the services you need. You do not want to pay for services you don’t need, as well. Their web site should give you this information.

You should now be able to narrow your search down to two or three pool cleaning services. Now, it’s time to call each company. If any of the above questions were not fully answered to your satisfaction, ask them first when you call. Delete any from your list that don’t meet your needs or are not qualified.

  1. Ask for references. Be wary of online reviews. Some businesses hire Internet marketers to place good reviews and testimonials for their business. And, on the flip side, some hire not-so-ethical people to place bad reviews against their competitors. Getting honest and real references may help offset the uncertainty of “fake” reviews.

Then contact those references and ask about the company and their experience with the service. Did they show up on time? Were they accountable for the quality of their work?

  1. Finally, will they include a trial period in their service contract or prior to signing one? If not, go with someone else. You want to give their service a trial run to ensure they are the best pool cleaner for your needs.
