Four Intimate Roundtable Meetings Were Recently Held in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio

Greg Fay of Fay Ranches recently travelled to Texas to join strategic allies Republic Ranches and The Land Report, for four roundtable discussions held in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, Texas. Topics focused on current rural land trends and investing in land for agriculture, recreation and timber across Texas and the U.S. This year, additional emphasis was raised on Water Concerns and Chronic Wasting Disease in deer.  We want to thank our strategic ally, Republic Ranches for organizing the Texas Roadshow for a second year in a row.  By all accounts it was another success.

Quick takeaways from the roundtables you may find helpful:

• Generally, global markets appear nervous, albeit the Texas land markets are strong… for now.
• In further, more rural areas, buyers are more price sensitive and the sellers have loosened their price positions.  Additionally, especially in the more rural areas, buyers seem to be more price sensitive and thus sellers have had to loosen their price positions in order to get a deal done.  This trend has proven to increase the transaction volume. A different mix of buyers are entering the market with the recent downturn in many commodity prices.
• Despite the heavy Texas rainfall in 2015, in recent months we are seeing future water supplies are still a concern, and changes in water rights regulations are important to stay up to date on.
• There are many new emerging issues surrounding recent Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) findings in Texas deer is a real concern that is impacting ranch transactions.
