The Year In Retrospect And Whats Upcoming

As the year winds-down the business of event entertainment changes and so venues are a bit different and my Song list even changes a little to accommodate the time of year. Sometimes in the colder seasons I get more day time gigs, (though it gets dark so fast that it feels like night). With holiday/end of the year parties starting, and not as many people getting married in the last quarter, it’s a change that keeps things different. It reminds me to change things up musically. I nix the summer beach songs unless it’s a theme of the event or something. So I have that to do here in a week or so. -to bring out the winter song list and go over it, MIDI files, all of that. I have two new instrumentals that I’ll be adding so that I can warm up in the early moments of my routine. It allows people to file-in to the party and sets the mood.

Looking back on 2015 I can say that I have a backlog of material that I’ve written and recorded partially, but have yet to do anything final with. But the year was one of composing and writing for me. Eugene Spent many nights up late with pots of coffee, determined to complete the song at hand. I spent more time exploring music’s roots. I went on a musical journey of listening to groups who started in Michigan, then I went beyond, like now. I’ve been getting and feeling a lot of Michigan influence so it will show in my music.

In short, I have a heap of studio time to log if I’m ever going to get my CD finished. It will have a lot of tracks even after I decide which ones won’t go on this volume. I plan to record them all (about 14) and pick the best. That is Eugene’s quest for 2016. The tracks can be laid down and mixed by the end of next spring. Holidays coming up and starting next week will keep me pretty busy with the usual. Let’s not even forget to mention spending time with family in the months to come especially. Looking forward to bringing you my next update.
