Amrita Singh Claims To Be The Rightful Owner Of Family Property

Post the death of her maternal uncle, Amrita Singh Claims Clement Townland spread over a four-acres belongs to her and her aunt

Even the rich and famous often don’t have it easy when it comes to the disputed land. Recently, Bollywood actress Amrita Singh couldn’t even mourn the death of her uncle Madhusudan Bimbet properly as she had to immediately stake claim over an ancestral property where he was residing. Upon news of Madhusudan’s demise, Amrita took along her daughter Sara Ali Khan to the four-acre property worth Rs 50 crores located at Clement Town in Uttrakhand on Saturday. It originally belonged to Amrita’s maternal grandmother. Madhusudan was residing there till his death due to cancer. Amrita conducted the last rites of her uncle.

On the same day, she approached Clement Town police station seeking protection of the property from land mafia. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dehradun Nivedita Kukreti Kumar confirmed the news and added that the cops told the actress that they wouldn’t be able to do much as it is a civil matter. All parties involved in the dispute were told to approach the local civil court. However, the police assured Amrita that if anyone took an illegal step towards the property, they would then definitely take strict action against the culprits.

Amrita then had a board put upon its premises which reads, “This property belongs to Ms. Tahira Bimbat (Amrita Singh’s aunt) and Ms. Amrita Singh. Trespassers will be prosecuted.”

The land was being disputed between Madhusudan Bimbet and his two siblings – Amrita Singh’s mother Rukhsana Sultana and her sister Tahira.

Two cases are already pending in the civil and district magistrate court in Dehradun regarding the matter. One out of the two had been filed in December 2018.

When contacted, Dehradun district magistrate SA Murugesan refused to give a direct comment but confirmed that the cases haven’t gotten any verdict yet. “One in my court as well. The law will take its own course,” Murugesan added.

The final twist to this already complex matter came from the caretaker of the property. Khushi Ram is dead against Amrita’s claim. He has alleged that Madhusudan, who was a bachelor, had nominated a friend to take over the entire property. Till now, no one has appeared to do so.
