A Review of the Peugeot 5008, 2018 GT Variant

If you’re in the market for a great value packed SUV why not take a closer look at the Peugeot 5008? 2018 has seen the 5008 GT added to the range as a flagship vehicle and this variant needs to make an impact. The Australian medium SUV segment is not the most exciting car sales battleground, but it is a hotly contested one. There is a real need for a car that customers can get get inspired by. Let’s take a closer look at the Peugeot 5008 GT and see what it has to offer.

A Breath of Fresh Air

The Peugeot 5008 is actually a large SUV technically, although you could say that is small enough to virtually straddle both the medium and the large SUV segments. We all understand that styling is subjective, but the 5008 has a fresh attractive look from every angle. The whole package has a premium look and feel to it that puts it way above its competitors and that even includes other European imports. There are three model grades, an extensive array of Equipment Fitted as standard and this provides an excellent value proposition.

The Peugeot 5008 GT

The 5008 has the following equipment fitted as standard AEB braking, 7 seats, driver attention alerts, lane departure warnings, automatic headlights and windscreen wipers, stop and go functionality, adaptive cruise control, a 360° camera system, front and rear parking sensors, dual zone climate control, a customisable 12.3” instrument panel, an 8” touchscreen, 3D navigation, Digital DAB+ radio, wireless charging induction, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, phone mirroring, alloy roof rails, six airbags, electric heated and folding door mirrors.

The 5008 GT adds even more equipment, such as Alcantara dash and door inserts, heated front seats, an electric driving seat with two memory slots and massage functionality,  chrome mirror shells, wheel arch extensions and 19” alloy wheels. The GT is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine which generates 140kW of power and 400 NM of torque. This powerplant is paired with a six speed automatic gearbox and a claimed fuel consumption of 4.8L/100km combined.

All in all the 5008 is an impressive SUV with a blend of value and quality that will be hard to beat. This is especially true if you go for the range topping GT variant and Peugeot should be commended for freshening up this segment.
