This decision was made as part of a management meeting held by the Zcash Foundation. Its results were announced at the Zcon0 conference in Montreal on Thursday. As part of the seminar on mining at the conference on Tuesday, members of Zcash Company, the main organization supporting the development of Zcash, said the company would voice a more formal position on ASIC before the upcoming Sapling update in October.
Zcash Foundation operates independently of the Zcash Company. Its main goal is to decentralize decision making in the network through management meetings. At the conference, Miller said that these meetings are generally designed to inform community members about the fund’s priorities for the year.
“We want to include the ideas of open management in the work of the network, including community participation in decision-making – this is our main goal, ” Miller said.
On another issue, 48 participants spoke in favor and 15 against the transfer of ownership of the Zcash Company trademark from Zcash Company to the Fund. The group also voted to elect Clovyr CEO Amber Baldet and co-founder Zcash Jan Miers as new members of the board of the Foundation.
This week in the Zcash network, the Overwinter update was successfully activated, which will prepare the network for the larger Sapling hardfall in October this year. Overwinter has added rollforward protection and some improvements to improve network performance.
During the Sapling upgrade, it is planned to eliminate the excessive weight of closed transactions, so that Zcash can scale for more users.
