Traveling With Kids – Halloween Events In Maui For Families

With green palms swaying in the warm island breeze practically year round, it is hard to imagine celebrating the Halloween season here in Hawaii. Traveling to Maui with your little ones is a photo book full of memories in itself. Thankfully festive childhood traditions like bobbing for apples and pumpkin picking is not just reserved for the season changing mainland! If you are here for the “spookiest” time of the year, we invite you to venture from the “safety” of your oceanfront vacation rental to the many Halloween happenings around Maui that are perfect for families!

1. Kula Country Farms Pumpkin Patch
It is officially pumpkin season and as of October 1st, the Kula Country Farms has opened their patch to the public. Special festive events will feature the famous walk-through corn maze, costume contests, music and crafts along with local food vendors! The spacious counter tops of the fully equipped Kahana Village kitchens make ideal jack-o-lantern stations. So wander the Upcountry Maui field of pumpkins and gourds of all sizes; the “one” is waiting to come home with you for an evening of pumpkin carving.

2. Haunted Houses – Hyatt Regency and Keiki Playhouse
Opening on October 27th and runs until the 29th, the Hyatt Regency will lead you down into the darkness with their haunted house! As the sun sets the creepy creatures come out and the spooky experience will last around 10 minutes, making it a fun stop from your two bedroom condo rental before enjoying a meal at the nearby restaurants. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for your little monsters with 100% of the proceeds to be donated to the 2017 Charity Walk, a fundraising event to benefit hundreds of non-profits of Maui County.

For those of you who are here on the night for ghost and ghouls, the Keiki Play House will also be hosting a haunted house perfect for traveling children! Inspired by Disney’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” this Halloween will kick off at the Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center on October 31st. This spooktacular haunted house is another great way to create Maui memories with your keiki.

3. Keiki Parade on Front Street
Among the swimsuits and shorts, we are sure that your kid’s favorite character outfit has snuck its way into their suitcase. Luckily, the Keiki Parade offers the perfect opportunity for your children to strut their costumed stuff down the famous Front Street in Lahaina. The parade begins at 4:30 pm on October 31st and is followed with live music in Campbell Park. You could even continue the fun at the Lahaina Cannery Mall for a costume contest, face painting, and so much more!

These are just a few of the many happenings going on this October and what better Halloween mystery than discovering more festive activities, right? Maui truly has so much to explore and most of it lies near your West Maui vacation rental! This is just one of several reasons to stay at a Hawaii resort over a hotel, your island adventure starts at Kahana Village.
