15 Minute Christmas Cleaning Hacks

We Believe!

Dreaming of a Clean Christmas …

If you haven’t booked a professional cleaning service to get your house in order before the holidays, it’s probably a tad late now.

On the upside, you can buy a gift certificate for services for the New Year & just put that little nugget of gold under the Christmas tree and call it a day.

I don’t know about you, but personally, I can’t think of a better, thoughtful or more appreciated gift.

Christmas Cleaning Hacks

But this article is about a 15 minute do-it-yourself, clear the decks, deck the halls, emergency clean sweep as Christmas, Boxing Day, Kwanzaa or Festivus for the Rest of Us approaches.

So just breathe. Don’t worry. It’s just a little dust & surely your brilliant rum cake & amazing Christmas sweater will divert all attention away from dusty tchotchkes to the wonder of you, not your well-loved home.

Just do a few simple things now & save the deep cleaning for the New Year.

Just For Now

Wrap packages. Bake cookies. Whip up some eggnog. Watch Miracle on 34th Street. Make a fire. Pop popcorn. Sing. Dance. Be around kids & oldsters. Give to the needy. Be Happy.

As for the big clean. Just don’t do it, keep it simple for now and put your energy into all things happy & joyful. The deep cleaning can wait, and besides, there are professionals for that.

Cleaning Can Wait!

Here’s What to Do:

Declutter

Hide it. Somehow paper and little bits of miscellany seem to multiply all on their own creating stacks and mounds of whatzits everywhere. Get a nice big wicker hamper. Put everything in it. Close it up. Don’t open it until next year.

Nothing will happen. You will be fine.

Dishes

Put every dirty dish in the dishwasher. That’s what it’s for. Don’t leave dirty dishes and glasses out and about. Tell the kids to be good children and gather up all the dishes and cups in the house & carefully put them in the dishwasher.

Kids are especially compliant right about now. They know rewards will come within days because of their stunning, obedient and benevolent behavior.

Candles & Air Freshener

Scatter the house with good smelling stuff everywhere. (Read our last blog “The Scent of the Season” for ideas and fragrance qualities, soothing, mood elevating, energizing, etc.) Fragrance is the intangible element that spikes the air and reconfigures our thoughts.

No one will notice the dust in the corner or tiny fingerprints on the window panes. This is a true fact.

Surfaces

Okay, this involves a little cleaning but of the most elementary kind. Every surface within a guest infused area must be wiped clean. Typically these areas include the entryway, kitchen, family room, living room and common bathrooms (give the toilet bowl a quick swish).

Get an all purpose, all surface type cleaner to be efficient. Use a cleaner with a fresh aroma which will infuse your home with a freshness that you definitely want.

Don’t mind the dust bunnies under the couch, no one is looking there. Your guests will only smell something beautiful and see clean tables & counters. That’s all that matters.

Practicalities

Whether you’re having out of town guests, family and friends roving about the house for days on end or a quiet get together it just makes sense to be practical.

So in addition to making light work of cleaning up before guests arrive, stock up on supplies that will guarantee smooth sailing right through Christmas Dinner Plum Pudding.

As purveyors of all things clean with the goal of keeping homes, businesses, schools, hotels, and offices clean and up to snuff, we say, why not apply these ideas and products to every home during the holiday season?

These are a Few of Our Favorite Things

Plenty of paper towels, soap, sanitizer, spot remover, carpet cleaner, bath tissue … these are a few of our favorite things. Here’s a wild guess, these very practical things that you will actually need are not at the top of your list. That’s okay.

That’s why we are here, to remind you.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyeux Noel, Feliz Navidad, Happy Boxing Day, Happy Kwanzaa & a Joyous Festivus for the Rest of Us

Have Cake & Be Happy
