Zaria Shooting: University Student, Policeman shot dead

A mobile policeman attached to Zenith Bank, Zaria, Matthew Joshua, on Friday killed his colleague attached to the same bank, Sergeant Aliyu Kamilu, and a university student following disagreement over monthly stipends being given them by the bank.

According to the eyewitness who shared the story, the drama all started when the officers were collecting their stipends from the bank when Mathew Joshua, who is a corporal, accused Sergeant Aliyu Kamilu, of short-changing his stipends.

When Joshua confronted Kamilu on the issue, they started shouting at each other. Midway through the quarrel, Joshua reportedly shot his colleague in the stomach. After that, he continued firing sporadically, eventually wounding 4 customers of the bank and killing a university student. His colleague died too.

The police was alerted and when they arrived at the scene, Joshua was already armed with two guns. They shot him in the leg, and seeing that he had been weakened, a mob descended on him thus stoning him to death also.

The corpses of the student and the police have been moved to the Ahmadu Bello Teaching Hospital, while Joshua is confirmed dead.
