Did you recently start or are you signed up to begin a Shoe drive fundraiser with Funds2Orgs?

Then this tip to success is for you!

You’ll be earning a lot of money in your shoe drive fundraiser for your organization, but the micro-entrepreneurs we work with in developing nations need you to collect Gently Worn, used and new shoes. If you or your family wouldn’t use the shoes, then people trying to sell shoes in impoverished communities are not going to be able to sell the footwear, which directly impacts the success of their micro-business.

Here’s all the information you need to make sure each bag filled with 25 pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes is done properly.

• When you’re packing shoes, the first thing you want to make sure of is that you have gently worn, used and new shoes you’re packing. If you want to see a quick video of the types of shoes that our micro-enterprise partners need (and don’t), please click here.
• You can also make sure to review our Shoe Collection Guidelines, which are available to you by clicking here.
• We’ve discovered that the shoe drive fundraising partners we work with who have the easiest time of packing take care of bagging the shoes as they receive them during the fundraiser––instead of doing it all at one time in the end.
• When you do start packing, please make sure to use the clear plastic bags that Funds2Orgs provided to you. If you need more collection materials, please call your fundraising coach. You can also check out this page on how to obtain additional Starter Kits with the bags and rubber bands.
• All pairs have to be rubber banded, or the laces have to be tied together when being placed in the bag. Keeping shoes in pairs is is essential for sorting and processing.
• If you have high heeled footwear to bag, you want to take a special precaution so as not to tear and cut through any of the clear plastic bags. Place a pair toe to heal and then rubber band high heeled shoes securely 

• When you’ve put 25 pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes inside of a bag, tie the bag with a knot at the top. There are two good reasons for doing it this way: 

2. When you seal bags at the top, it helps you in the counting process for the number of bags you have on-hand. You can consider each bag with a knot on top to be completed. 
3. Tying a knot at the top of each bag is the most secure method for ensuring the bags remain sealed, especially during the packing process of the Funds2Orgs truck at pickup and during transport of the footwear to our warehouse.
