NYC Weekend Guide for June 17 – 18, 2017

Happy Fathers’ Day Weekend!

The Big Apple is really starting to heat up with summer activities and events this weekend! From parades to food festivals to art shows and everything else in between, there’s definitely something for everyone this weekend in NYC. Here’s a quick look at just a few of the top events and activities to enjoy for the weekend of June 17 – 18 in New York City!

Coney Island Mermaid Parade

The famous Coney Island Mermaid Parade returns this Saturday! This fun, free event features colorful floats and unforgettable costumes that will impress even the most jaded New Yorker. A great way to kick off summer, the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, now in its 35th year, is always a blast! Begins at 1208 Surf Avenue in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

The Art of Spider-Man

If you’re a fan of comic books and illustration, then you’ll definitely want to check out The Art of Spider-Man, a new exhibition that explores the history of the famous superhero and how it influenced generations of comic book artists and illustrators. Takes place Friday and Saturday at the Society of Illustrators at 128 East 63rd Street in Manhattan. Don’t miss this!

Donutfest

Let’s face it, who doesn’t love donuts? If you’ve got a sweet tooth, then head over to the Marquee at 289 Tenth Avenue in Chelsea this Saturday to sample some of the best donuts in the city. A fun (and tasty!) way to spend the day, Donutfest is one of NYC’s most unique food festivals!

Manhattan By Sail

With the beautiful summer weather finally upon us, what better time to take a scenic harbor cruise aboard a historic sailing ship? Manhattan by Sail offers daily cruises from Battery Park and Battery Park City in Lower Manhattan, giving you a prime opportunity to see iconic landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge and the city’s picturesque skyline from a unique perspective. Relax on the City’s Waterfront

NYC is blessed with generous public spaces along its waterfront, offering the perfect summer escape from the heat and crowds. Battery Park and the Battery Park City Promenade offer picturesque views of New York Harbor while Riverside Park is a great place to enjoy a sunny summer afternoon largely away from the crowds of Manhattan. Brooklyn Bridge Park affords striking views of the Manhattan skyline and plenty of greenery to enjoy while Governors Island seamlessly blends beautiful waterfront scenery with historic landmarks, art displays, cultural festivals and even more to discover!
