The Hills Property Interview with Tony Merhi

The Hills District is set to see some significant growth over the next few years, we were lucky enough today to speak to local philanthropist and investor, Tony Merhi.

Located in Sydney’s North West, the Hills District is a highly sought after area with property in high demand. Speaking to Tony Merhi we got a chance to learn more about his business, love for the area and his continual charity work within The Hills.

What is the best thing about living in the Hills District? Would you recommend that first time home buyers consider buying a property in the area?

The Hills District is a fantastic area to live and work. There has always been a very strong community here which helps to make the district so popular with young families looking to raise their children. In saying that, it is also a great area for anyone looking to live in a quieter area, not located close to the city but close enough to large shopping centres and plenty of public transport. For that reason, it’s a brilliant area to invest in. Young homeowners will love the area as will families with young children. The large choice of housing also gives a plethora of choice when it comes to owning a house. If you are looking for an investment property and not for a house to live in then I would also say consider the Hills District, the popularity in the area means you will have no problem finding tenants.

The Hills District is going to see rapid growth over the next few years, do you think this is a good thing for the area?

I think the new growth in the area is a good thing. For many years the Hills District has sat pretty much untouched as other parts of Sydney have grown and expanded. We see constant interest in the Hills District so this will be a great thing to bring new residents to the area as well as provide more housing options.Last year, we sold an area of land to Sekisui House located on Spurway Drive near Norwest Town Centre. New developments such as these that really embrace the Hills way of life will be very popular with new home buyers and the existing community. Sekisui House are committed to providing residents with modern housing options that still mirror the open areas and relaxed way of life that currently exist. Along with the expansion in housing, the North West Rail Link will also provide much easier access throughout the Hills District and make other parts of Sydney much more accessible.

Was there any particular reason that you decided to get into real estate and property development?

For me, it was all about giving back to the community I had grown up in and loved. I really love the united community feeling that the Hills have, where everyone works to help their neighbours and those around them. I wanted to give something back to the community and to me, that was in securing and providing quality housing.

Wherever you live you want to feel proud of your neighbourhood and getting involved in property development and real estate was my way to ensure the people of the Hills District have beautiful housing options that everyone can say fits in with the way of life here.

We hope you’ve all enjoyed this Q&A and please comment in the section below if you have any questions for Tony.
