Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in Uncuffed – Why you can’t trust swatches sometimes

I rarely go to a make up counter to browse any more. I don’t have time, I don’t like being harassed, I just generally like to buy online (from Korea!) or I can be tempted by the occasional beauty product I see and one of those was the Fenty Stunna Lip Paint in Uncuffed. I already own the knockout red shade and I love the formula but the shade is too bold for me to wear daily.

When I saw Uncuffed, a neutral rose I thought THIS IS THE ONE. This will be my MLBB.

So trusting all the online swatches, I went ahead and ordered it online and waited for it to arrive.

I love the concept of the Fenty Brand but I haven’t found many things from the range that are in my daily use make up bag (where the best of the best end up!). Oh actually – I am liking the diamond lip bomb, but more on that another time.

So here is Uncuffed – the packaging is gorgeous.

The thing is – I don’t think there is an deliberate deception at all. I too, have struggled with accurately representing the true colour of Uncuffed. Something about the way it photographs make it look more mauve/rose than in real life. In real life it is almost a 100% dead ringer to my Kat Von D Lolila (original version), but is slightly BROWNER.

The reason why I don’t use Lolita as such and prefer KVD’s Lovecraft is because Lovecraft has a touch of Pink which makes you look less “dead”.  Uncuffed as a touch more brown than Lolita which in my mind makes me look that little bit more dead (not good, we are not going for that today).

Here is my image from my Instagram which shows a comparison:

Looking pink AGAIN. This shade is a tricky dicky I tell you:

I suppose I should’ve checked out the swatch in person and had a look at how it would settle on MY skin tone because honestly speaking, it does nothing for me. I prefer either of the KVD shades to this one which makes it not one I would reach for that often. Shame!

Again it looks pink I promise you it is murkier on my skin tone.

That doesn’t mean it looks like that on everyone it just really doesn’t work for me and it’s hard to say why exactly, but it doesn’t. None of the other shades call out to me but I hope they’ll bring out a hot pink at some point as the formula is light and lovely.

This is £19 from Harvey Nichols.
