Trying out some Glossier – Skin Tint, Concealer, Boy Brow & Cloud Paint

After months of months of hearing all about Glossier, the range finally landed on UK shores via their own snazzy website and I decided to make a few purchases to try out.  The philosophy behind Glossier is a beauty that celebrates ‘real girls, real life’ – because that is fun and easy, imperfect and personal.

As a result the range seem so to be full of products that enhance natural beauty, which all of us have; glossy fresh Skin, strong but not OTT brows, glowing cheeks, lots of hydration. The beauty philosophy behind the brand is very me at this moment in time because I am completely short on time to spend on myself and yet of course I want to look like a nicer version of me.  I am no longer in to super heavy make up, I want freshness even with glittery or colourful looks. This brand just felt right to me, even if it isn’t for everyone.

So here is my small haul:

Note: There is free shipping if you spend £25 which is quite reasonable, so I made 3 separate orders as I wanted a few of their cute pink bags they send out with their products – they are great for travelling.

1. Coconut Balm Dot Com

2. Perfecting Skin Tint (Dark)

3. Stretch concealer (Dark)

4. Boy Brown (Brown)

Here is everything out of the packaging.

1. Coconut Balm Dot Com (£10) – is a clear lip balm with a coconut scent. It’s quite a ‘real’ coconut smell which I love as I am a coconut fan however it’s not the Hawaiian rum type smell if that makes sense. It’s more like a grated coconut! The balm is very thick a bit like the Kiehls lip balm and moisturisers great but it is simple in its ingredients – petrolatum! But there is castor oil and some nice extras in there too.

2. Perfecting Skin Tint (Dark) (£20) – this is a very very sheer finish light skin perfecting tint. It does not offer coverage for redness or spots. If you have much to cover then don’t bother wasting your time with this but if you have quite good skin and don’t mind small imperfections showing through (I have some sun damage freckles for example that I don’t mind) then this just evens out the texture of your skin and makes to look more ‘poreless’.  I have many tinted moisturisers that offer more coverage than this, so this really is for when my skin is at it’s best an when I just want something super duper natural and fresh.

3. Stretch concealer (Dark) (£15) – This pot concealer is quite waxy and offers a little bit of coverage for circles and shadow areas.  It isn’t like a concealer that blocks extreme blemishes – it actually appears a little sheer at times – but like the skin tint, it offers ‘a bit more’ on problem areas. I was comparing this to my RMS post concealer which is super thick an heavy – that one I never use under the eyes due to how heavy it is.  This one works much better for the eye area because it can be ‘stretched’ out so to speak over the skin to a nice light finish.

4. Boy Brown (Brown) (£14) – This tiny container of brow mascara is pretty good. The result is natural but perfected – there are many good brow mascaras like this around (I am also a fan of Innnisfree eyebrow mascara) but this one is quite good as it leaves the brow soft an not crunchy.

Finally, the first purchase I made was for the Cloud Paints – I bought Puff (light pink) and Dusk (beige brown) which come as a set of two for £25.

These are really lovely. I am a cream blush fan – I am sure they are not for everyone but I really like these as they give the right amount of pigment and blend away so easily. They are quite runny so you just need a little dab.

Swatches:

Here is the blusher on my cheeks (a mixture of the two colours):

All in all, I am happy with my first encounter with Glossier – there is nothing I hate here.  My favourite thing is the Cloud Paints which are really lovely blushers.  I see no reason why I wouldn’t reuse these products though, they are great for school run mornings.

Also, you get a pouch, stickers and a sample with every purchase.

Have you tried Glossier?
