Not For Me: MasqueBAR Tea Tree Modeling Mask Review

The first time I ever experienced a rubber Face Mask (not that sort) or ‘modelling mask’ was during an Elemis facial – I didn’t know what it was at the time, but the therapist asked if I was claustrophobic because this next mask would go over my eyes and lips too. I said no, but it was a weird experience – my skin felt amazing afterwards though.

Then the Koreans made it in to a big thing you could do at home and bought a big tub of modelling mask to try. It does work well and it’s fun – but it’s also messy so I admit I haven’t touched it again since although I might break it out for fun when I have family around. I digress.

So many Korean skincare trends are now translating over to the Western market. MASQUEBar, have their own version of the modelling mask making it a convent way to try the trend.

I was sent the Tea Tree version to try. This version is good for people who have break outs (sometimes) and it can also calm irritated skin. At £4.99 for 28g (one use) it is a little expensive (I would get a pack of 10 sheet masks for £10 for example) but as a novelty, it’s ok.

What this pack is, is very very convenient. One of the reasons I mentioned before as to why I do not use my modelling mask much is that it is messy. I barely have time to use a sheet mask and all that involves is pulling out a sheet and sticking it on my face! With this tub you are making as little mess as possible as the power is measured for you and you also get a spoon so just add the water amount specified and mix.

It looks a bit like wall paper paste and is a bit lumpy but you do have to get it on your face sooner rather than later because when it sets you have to pull it off. You must rinse your face afterwards.

I found this easy to mix but it was slightly lumpy. It was ok to spread but quite ‘drippy’ (my other mask tends to keep its shape better) but yeah…it can be a little messy.

Although I love the container and how everything is measured out I found this one hard to remove after the specified time. I had little bits stuck on to my face which was annoying – it should really remove cleanly.

Also this may be the wrong one for me (it comes in different types, such as Lavender) as it made my skin red and a little rash. The rash went after 2 days but it’s not something I would use again for that reason – too irritating.

If you have a more robust skintype this may suit you. Everyone should try a modelling mask for fun (remember you can put it over your lips and even eyes if you have someone to help!) but as a regular part of my routine, I simply do not have time and I am not convinced the benefits are worth the mess.

Buy it here from Feel Unique if you have the time and don’t mind the mess, who currently have a 3 for 2 offer.
