Ok, if you are from the UK, do you know about the brand Botanics?

Botanics was originally launched in 1995 by Boots, and is a range of plant based natural skincare extracts and honestly, I can’t remember it not being around.  I remember buying one of my first lip sticks from the range and an eye gel – that was many moons ago; it was affordable and seemed good quality for the price. 

These days Botanics still preaches a range that contains plant extracts and targets specific needs. I tried out a few products recently and here is what I thought. 

Softening Cleanser 82% (£7.99) – contains Organic reship extract. This lightweight milky cleanser does a nice job of cleaning the skin provided you don’t need to remove heavy make up. I like this as a morning cleanser. 

Organic Facial Oil (£11.99) – this contains rosehip oil and hydrated and gives radiant smooth skin. It is 100% organic. It comes in a lightweight oil jar and it feels quite thick and luxurious.  It does sit on the skin a little so use sparingly or at night.  I also liked using this on the kids skin after moisturising to seal it in. 

Radiant Youth (purple packaging) – I used the Hydrating Eye Cream (£11.99) with Ginger and Microdermabrasion (£9.99) with Ginkgo. 

The eye cream was none irritating and nice and light. I don’t like overly heavy eye creams and for the price, I think it’s a really nice, simply cream to use around the eye area which made my eyes feel refreshed. 

I don’t usually use scrubby scrubs any more but I quite like using this scrub. It contains quite a lot of particles – people with sensitive skin, take it easy, but I liked giving my nose a good little polish – it made extracting easier! I would use this once a week. 

I also tried the All Bright Radiance Balm (£7.99) which I didn’t have particularly high hopes for – it simply looks like a pink cream in the tube but it works very well as a primer for make up – it sinks in fast and seems to create a smooth base.  It does make the skin look brighter although I don’t like to overload my skin with products in the day so I used this in lieu of a moisturiser.  

Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm (97% Organic) (£8.99) – is my favourite product of all of the things I tried.  It has a thick oily texture – it is NOT the kind of balm that rinses off easily, bear this in mind. It won’t dissolve on its own.  You have to use the hot cloth provided (a muslin cloth) to make sure you remove it all. The cloth gets dirty quickly if you wear make up with me but just chuck it in the washing machine. It removes make up fantastically (I need separate eye make up remover for mascara) and leaves my skin feeling soft. 

All in all, the range has stayed true to it’s organic and natural roots, and is affordable and of course easy to get hold of!
