I love Pukka Herbs! Pukka Teas and Supplements – my thoughts

Even if you have never tried a Pukka Herbs product – they make teas and supplements based on Indian Ayurvedic products – you will have seen their ranges in your local supermarkets or health food stores.  I have been buying from their range for years; mainly the teas as I am a big believer in drinking herbal teas!

Recently I was sent a selection of Pukka products to try – I had a few requests.  I wanted something to help with my exhaustion, something to help with my muscular pains, for my stress levels and something to help me sleep more soundly. Pukka delivered:

I have been studying Ayuerveda for a little while so I really keen to try the supplements, which are new to me.  Ayuerveda is a holistic healing system and to generalise, it is a principle that believes that our health depends on the balance between the mind, body and spirit.

Pukka is a great brand to try if you are interested because their ingredients are high quality and they have something for almost everything.

The products come in tinted glass jars.  I know it’s just a cosmetic thing but I LOVE the design of Pukka packaging.

Vitalise (comes in tablet form or 120g powder) – this is a powder blend of botanicals such as Beetroot (this is the strongest flavour I detected in the powder), Bilberries and Ginseng.  There is so much in this, various fruit and vegetable extracts, flower pollen etc.  This blend of 30 energising botanicals gives you energy and deal wit stresses.

This stuff works wonders, for me at least. Sometimes in the morning I literally feel like death and I have to fight the urge to not grab a coffee – I love coffee but if I start with one then I will be dosed up all day. Instead at the moment I grab a juice and stir a spoonful of this and I DO feel more awake and alive after it but in a nice way, not like I have drunk a can of red bull and feel jittery.

Taste wise – it doesn’t taste bad at all but you do have to be ok with herbal flavours and you need to find something suitable to mix this in with.  Regular green smoothie or orange juice works well.  Coffee (yes I tried) does not.  It tastes like beetroot to me with a slightly wheaty taste so if you dislike it, just mix it in with a small amount of juice and down it!

2. Ashwagandha and Night Time

Ashwagandha is a Indian root which is supposed to help with stress. With these tablets, the rule is usually 2 a day with water or Aloe Vera juice.

I find this root helps me SO MUCH when I feel overwhelmed.  I don’t even know what it is, but if I am feeling like things are getting on top of me I take two of these and I suddenly feel calmer and better within myself to handle things.  I don’t take this daily, only when I need it and I wouldn’t be without it.

*I just noticed that there will be a new improved version of this out soon!

Night Time is a mixture of Valerian and Ashwagandha – valerian is well known for being a sleep inducing ingredient.

If I feel like I need some help I will take one of these and it does again, help. I feel more refreshed when I wake up. The thing is, it’s not that I sleep for long but because of my kids I sleep quite lightly in case they wake in the night.  When I take this, it makes me sleep more deeply and therefore I feel better when I wake up.

Wholistic Tumeric – Tumeric has been mentioned in various diets as a super healthy ingredient.  This blend contains 50% timer root, 40% Tumeric Root holistic extract and some other dashes of products like ginger root, spirulina, seaweed.

I have noticed two benefits since taking this; my muscles hurt less (I do 2 hours of hard walking, that is with a very heavy pushchair 5 days a week and I do ache terribly sometimes).  I also feel that my skin is clearer taking this.  This is the one product that I take consistently day to day.

Finally – I have a Ginseng Matcha Green Tea here. I love Pukka teas, I really do. My favourites are Night Time and Tumeric Tea.

I usually HATE green tea from a tea bag because it is so bitter but Pukka’s is amongst the best.  Just don’t over soak it!  Over soaked green tea bags = bitter as hell tea.

This tea is a fresh green tea and the ginseng is definitely detectable in it. If I can’t carry my green tea powder or leaves with me, these tea bags are definitely worth trying.

Note – I haven’t attached prices as you can usually shop around for the best prices on Pukka.

My verdict is; if you like herbal products and holistic health, I totally recommend Pukka teas and supplements. I have had a really positive experience using these and I would happily repurchase when I run out!
