‘Chief for a Day’ celebration coming to Burien today – Thursday, Aug. 16

The Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center (WSCJTC) will hold its ‘Chief for a Day’ celebration today – Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018 – marking the 20th anniversary of this event.

If you see a motorcade of Law Enforcement vehicles around the Criminal Justice Training Center (located at 19010 1st Ave S.), this is likely the reason.

Here’s more info:

In partnership with local Law Enforcement Agencies and the communities of Washington State, Chief For a Day is about celebrating the lives of children who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening or chronic illness.

This year, 33 law enforcement agencies will sponsor a child to participate in the event. Each agency will provide their honorary “Chief” or “Sheriff” with a hand-tailored uniform and the children and their families will participate in a day they will never forget.

This year’s Chiefs and Sheriffs range in age from 3 to 12 years old and are sponsored by 33 different jurisdictions.
