The Generation Y and Z!

Tags: generation

Mobile phones are the most popular gadget that has been widely used in recent times. It constitutes a large part of our daily life. Though it’s been used by every age group in different usage patterns. But, the new Generation is largely influenced by it. They are the generation who exposed to these devices from their pre-adolescence.

The addiction towards these gadgets indicates something worst gonna happen with their personal, psychological and social life. They know how to handle every smart device. But have no idea how much they should spend on it, without affecting other things.

For them, the world starts with morning notifications and ends with late night group chats. But, there’s a World beyond it, who gonna tell them?

The demography of those is called the Gen Z. The Generation Z is totally different from Gen X, and Y, they have created a different virtual social environment thus sharing the private life in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. They are more closed to this virtual society than the real life.

Generation Z is predominantly the children of Generation X, but they also have parents who are Millennials. According to the marketing firm Frank N. Magid, they are “the least likely to believe that there is such a thing as the American Dream” because “Generation X, the most influential parents of Plurals (Generation Z), demonstrates the least credence in the concept of the American Dream among adult generations.” According to the Public Relations Society of America, the Great Recession has taught Generation Z to be independent and has led to an entrepreneurial desire, after seeing their parents and older siblings struggle in the workforce. Business Insider describes Generation Z as more conservative, more money-oriented, more entrepreneurial and pragmatic about money compared to Millennial’s.

Our childhood memories were so influencing and valuable that even today we’ll choose it over millions of dollars if got a chance!

We were fortunate enough that we got a childhood in a real sense before it invaded by technologies. We got the opportunity to play in the grounds, swim in lakes and socializing in real space. Though we also belong to the Generation Y, there’s a more advanced generation called the Generation Z. Thankfully our generation got the opportunity to enter in the virtual space after fully enjoying the real sphere. But the Generation Z people directly started from the virtual world. They are the first generation to have spent their entire lives in the digital environment; information technology profoundly affects how
they live and work (Bennett et al., 2008; Wesner & Miller, 2008).

: Bill Porter

They are so wretched that they don’t even know, there’s a world outside their gadgets. They see the world through the screens of their smartphones. They sit together and socialize on Group chats. They share every small or big happening on their social media profile. They feel alone with 69 others in Facebook. They share their feelings with 3000 people on the web, yet their parents remain oblivious.

They feel so proud to get 1k likes on their posts, they are no less than a celebrity on Instagram, they use hashtags like #Instamood #love #instagood #instaselfie #me #cute #photooftheday #instamood #iphonesia etc. They share selfies of every moment, even while eating, meeting, or bleeding .

The Generation Z is faster smarter in terms of technology, they are very tech-friendly, but still using those platforms developed by the Generation Y people. So decide who’s who faster smarter and better. Though I am not underestimating them. Maybe, later on, they invent something more interesting than Facebook and Instagram.

“They’re doing more grown-up things, without actually having the grown-up brain to accompany.”

Kids today are so technosavy that a 4-year-old kid can handle a smartphone better than someone born before the 80’s. They got the opportunity to adopt these technologies growing along with them. They are the 1st generation to use these gadgets in their whole life. They gonna spend their entire life on their smartphones. They’ll not get the time and opportunity to play games that we played in our childhood.

Today’s generation or the Gen Z people have no idea how it feels to play real-life games, with real-life friends who live near your home, watching ‘Shaktimaan’ with the whole village. There’s no fun in doing all such stuff by sitting in front of a Monitor.

Realize what you’re losing in time, go outside call your neighbor friends, play some games, have some real fun, live your childhood, technologies and gadgets will always there for you. But, once you lose your boyhood it will never come again.
