Why Eden Hazard’s comments on training have alarmed Chelsea bosses

Eden Hazard has admitted he prefers to take it easy in training in an attempt to avoid being kicked.

The Chelsea attacker is often targeted by opponents as the main source of the Blues’ goals and creativity.

Hazard’s comments have Alarmed Chelsea Bosses, who believe referees need to do more to protect their star man.

‘Do I protect my legs in training? Yes, yes, yes! To be fair, in Training I don’t give everything,’ said Hazard.

‘When we have drills, some people go crazy, but I don’t want to be kicked in training. I try to have a break.

‘We don’t have many breaks in the season, so I try in training to have more of a rest, and then in the games I give everything.

‘Do I get a lot of bruises? Yes. Sometimes I’m feeling a lot. I get a lot of fouls, a lot on my ankle. ‘When I’m on the pitch I do receive kicks, but that is part of football and I’m not complaining.’

Hazard is the most fouled player in the Premier League since 2014 and is often at the end of cynical tackles.

Mohamed Salah aimed a kick at Hazard in the second half at Anfield on Saturday after the Belgian put in an excellent first 45 minutes. Hazard’s influence diminished significantly in the second period and the 26-year-old tends to clash with referees.

Chelsea were without Hazard for the start of the season due to injury, but the Chelsea star is now fully fit after being eased back into action. Referee Jon Moss irked thazard last week when he took no action against Gareth Barry who hacked him down during a 4-0 win against West Brom.

The Mirror claim Chelsea are increasingly worried Hazard is being targeted in games and is a tackle away from being seriously injured.
