Five tips for healthy skin that will unlock success

While we should strive to “never judge a book by its cover”, more times than not the old saying: “first impressions last” is what matters in the real world.  When you go for a job interview or interact with existing and prospective clients, the first thing they see is you or your Skin.  The people you interact with already form a picture of your personality and expected behavior patterns within the first five seconds of seeing you for the first time.  It is therefore imperative that you take good care of your skin.

The message relayed to others when you have Healthy Skin is that of responsibility, professionalism, caring and pride and will leave a good first impression.  People will be more positive towards you and be more willing to do business with you.  Unhealthy skin, on the other hand, shouts:  irresponsibility, laziness, tardiness and a don’t-care attitude towards life.  Although unfair, people will be more negative towards you without you needing to utter a single word.

Five tips for healthy skin that will unlock success:

   1.Drink lots of water

  • Your Grandmother was right when she told you to drink lots of water.  Water keeps you and your skin hydrated.  Dehydration, even a little, makes your skin look flaky, saggy, and dull.  According to experts, you need to drink between six and eight glasses of water a day.  Hydrated skin looks firm and moisturized.
  • 2.Get enough sleep

  • Eight hours of quality sleep is necessary for your skin to rejuvenate and repair itself.   Enough sleep also prevents dark circles under your eyes – a testament of too many late nights.
  • 3. Avoid too much sun

  • While sunlight is needed to produce Vitamin D, too much sun will cause damage to your skin, like skin cancer and freckles, and accelerates the aging process.  Always wear sunglasses and sunscreen when you need to spend time in the sun.
  • 4.Follow a good skin routine

  • It is important to adapt and follow a good skin routine. Pollution and dust causes chemicals and dirt to build up in the pores and can cause blemishes and other skin problems.  Use natural products as far as possible, as too many or too strong chemicals can be more harmful than good for your skin in the long run.  Consult a beautician or pharmacist for advice on the correct products for your skin type.

     5.Exercise

While exercise is good for your heart-health, it is also important for the health of your skin. Circulation of oxygen and nutrients are increased and detrimental toxins are released through sweat.  Your skin will be clear and firm when you exercise regularly.

    • If you take good care of yourself and your skin, your skin will have a beautiful glow that will make a good first impression and will pave your road to success.  And remember to smile.  A friendly smile not only makes you more approachable but portrays self-confidence and is a good exercise for your face.
