" The Legend "

Many years ago the tale of a Great White Wolf haunting the wilderness of Mohegan Mountain spread down from many generations, and each time the tale is told it is more exaggerated and fearful than the last. In the late 1800's a 6yr old Indian boy whom they called "Little Bear Running Foot" crept out of his bed in the middle of the night and wondered away from the camp into the wilderness of Mohegan Mountain never to be seen again. After weeks of searching and finding nothing the tribe concluded the boy had fallen victim to the great white wolf " Namush Chewia " and from that point on engaged a promise that if any man sees a wolf they must not take chances and kill it on sight.

The following story might encourage you to draw up your own conclusion of the truth, but I ask my readers that when retelling the story please boost in moderation.
I would also like to express that I'm not a professional writer...but you really don't have to be to tell a good story.

Please feel free to comment and leave your input as the story unfolds. It is in my opinion that when all is said and done, the conclusion may have more of an impact in the judgement of man than we have ever hoped for.

(Part 1)

"Chasen Bear"

The panting grew louder and heavier as 7 yr old Micha ran fearsly through the open pass of Mohegan Mountain. His little legs were tiring and the bear was gaining on him. Help! Micha screamed with his breathless voice as he stumbled to the ground.... suddenly a shot rang out and Micha's little body lay curled up like ball shivering in fear. He sobbed louder and louder until he heard his fathers gentle voice,

Micha! I thought I told you to stop chasen bear with that sling, one of these days your gonna get killed...

But pa.. Micha wined that bear was different, it mighta been rabid or somethen cuz it didn't run off when I got'em with my slingshot..

You're right son! that bear was for sure different ...cuz you done angered  a grizzley!

While heading back to camp, Micha's father took the sling shot and broke it in half. He told Micha he was grounded and never to touch another sling shot until he matures.
Micha felt so bad that he hadn't said a word to anyone for two days.
Micha is an only child, his mother Pearl and his father William... both Mohegan, were born and raised on Mohegan Mountain . The old legend story helped William in making his decision to punish Micha in hopes that it will teach Micha the same wisdom and family values he himself learned as a child.
William was becoming worried over Micha's silence and needed to put an end to it.

Micha! his father called..., common out here...we need to talk about this.

Micha didn't answer and his father called him again... telling him that if he doesn't answer he will have to discipline  him,  But there was still no answer. It was after 9pm and William was thinking that maybe Micha had gotten tired and fallen asleep but upon opening the door to Michas room he had found it to empty with no sign of Micha anywhere.

Pearl! William yelled with panic in voice as he reached for his shotgun , ..Micha's missing..

Pearl could hardly reply as thoughts of the old legend at that point seemed to be a case of deja vu.

Both of them searched the cabin and nearby pass calling out Micha's name...with no reply.
As the hours past William gathered a few friends and neighbors to join in the search and still a few hours later "nothing"...

We need to get some sleep..said Danial a very true and close friend of Williams, we can start fresh in the morn.

If you want to give up than do so William snapped... but I'm not stoppin til I find my son.

Danial grabbed William's shoulder with a firm friendly grip and said Listen! If any of that legend is true, ..you ain't gonna be much help to that boy if your half a sleep!

Everyone especially William and pearl were tired and stressed out, fearing the worse, but they knew Danial was right.

(Part2)

" Lost "

The wind whistled gently as it move through the trees and the sun was making its presence known as it rose to the top of the highest branches.

The leaves filled the ground with a delightful mixture of colors changing the surroundings of the forest to an unfamiliar place and yet each direction looks the same from the large hollowed out log that lay within the center of the area. A deep yawn was heard from inside as it toggled back and forth....and soon Micha had crawled his way out.

He watched as nature put on a natural show....the birds chirped and the woodpecker pecked... squirrels frolicked from here to there and the branches tapped their wilderness tune. Soon a faded thumping sound could be heard beyond the trees, Micha tried to see what it was but he could only hear it getting closer and as it grew closer he could feel the ground beneath him beat.

Micha was thinking it may be his father looking for him, but his little heart raced with fear when he saw a large dark object moving fast into his view, just then ....there in front of him was the huge grizzly bear that chased him only a few days before. The same grizzly bear that Micha had shot a rock at with his sling.

Hmmm! I myself is kind of wondering what Micha's gonna do now, since he really has no where to run and since bears are good climbers.....climbing up a tree is out of the question.

Micha froze as the tears built, he couldn't scream and the grizzly was headed right for him. His tiny little legs weakened and his shaky voice whimpered ....Help!...help!

Just as the grizzly stood straight on his hind legs, the mean angry eye's joined his wide jaw that revealed his powerful teeth as he raised his large arm in swing motion, suddenly Micha had been knocked to the ground by a large white wolf that darted out of nowhere.
Micha covering his face too afraid to look while the eerie sounds of growling, snorting and whining joined the scuffles and the feel of two large beasts being slammed around.
What had seemed to go on forever had finally ended.

Slowly removing the hands from his face.. Micha's face went from an expression of fear to shock when he saw the the great white wolf standing a few feet away from him next to the still body of the grizzly bear.
