Audi India achieves a sales growth of 50 percent in April 2012



The Indian subsidiary of the German luxury auto giant, Audi has kick started the year 2012 with highly impressive sales figures in the first quarter that dominated the sales volume of the second leading premium brand, Mercedes-Benz. In the month of April 2012, Audi India witnessed a sales jump of nearly 50 percent rising from 375 units sold in April last year to 562 units sold in the corresponding month this year.

The Volkswagen Group owned automaker has revealed that in the first four months in 2012, the sales growth have been measured as 43 percent and during this period under review, the sales surged from 1986 units in the last year to 2831 units sold in this year.

After being positioned as second in the league of premium car makers in India, Mr. Michael Perschke, Head of Audi India, was quoted as saying, "2012 is proving to be a great year for Audi in India. Not only are we achieving spectacular growth month on month, we also made a strong statement of intent by achieving the No.2 position in the Indian luxury car market, in the first quarter itself."

He further added that the growth in sales quantum was majorly contributed by Audi A8, Audi A7 Sportback and Audi A6 coupled with effective dealer distribution network.

The German automaker had recently launched Audi TT, a two door sports coupe that has been receiving rising demand in the country. Audi India is confident that with the launch of the much awaited next generation A4 and the upcoming launch of Q3 in June 2012, the market stand of the company will be further strengthened.
