State and local firefighters are battling a Wind driven brush Fire burning out of control on the southern edge of the city of Lompoc on California’s central coast. The city of 42,000 is home to Vandenberg Air Force Base.
The Miguelito Fire started mid afternoon today and quickly jumped from 50 acres to an estimated 700 acres as of this posting. Strong offshore winds and extremely low humidities will be present over the fire area through Thursday.

The City Of Lompoc has issued this advisory on their official web site.
Important Message: Precautionary Evacuation
Due to a fire in Miguelito Canyon, a precautionary evacuation of homes within the Lompoc city limits is being conducted for the following bordered areas: The new north border is Locust St and the eastern limit is now the City limits including the Crestview areas. The Western limit remains 7th Street.
The Cambridge subdivision area is a mandatory area of evacuation.
If you have nowhere else to go, the primary Red Cross evacuation center is open at Trinity Nazarene Church at North Avenue and D Street. Evacuees with animals can go to Lompoc High School which is a secondary evacuation site.
