Care Home Open Day takes place tomorrow (21st April 2018) on Queen Elizabeth’s birthday- but what is it all about?

Well, Care Home Open Day is an opportunity to link Communities by celebrating different people of all ages from different cultures and backgrounds. It’s a chance to show the general public that care homes are happy, positive places to be, and a great way to get to know local groups in your Community- building relationships at the same time.

From having BBQs and morning teas to fancy dress parties, care homes are encouraged across the Commonwealth to organise fun activities and open their doors to their local communities as part of Care Home Open Day.

This year Care Home Open Day have joined forces with CommonAge, NAPA and Person Centred Software and aligned Care Home Open Day with International Care Home Open Day. Both organisations make a huge difference to older people across the globe and have a wealth of excellent ideas to help you connect with care homes around the world and find out how they are celebrating across different nations.

The main aim of Care Home Open Day is about bringing the community through care home doors so make sure you get thinking about some exciting ideas to attract guests to your care home on the day. Remember – if the community doesn’t know about it, they can’t join you for the party!
