Independent Accountant – Finance Jobs – Accounting

Independent accountant job description:

On the position of Independent Accountant, you will be responsible for the entire scope of accounting tasks in the company or within a specific department depending on the size of your company. You will be supported by junior accountants and interns, so your managing skill can be developed here. You should be well organized and detail-oriented in this position. As a charted accountant you can certify companies financial statements and hire other accountants.

How to become Independent Accountant:

Independent accountants should have experience in the accounting industry, 2-3 years in finance should be sufficient. You have to be fluent in national accounting legislation and international standards such as International Accounting Standards IAS and International Financial Reporting Standards IFRS or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles GAAP in the USA. Perspectives for Independent accountant:

You can be promoted to the main accountant or – most commonly –a managerial position or even CFO. If you will be fluent in many accounting areas and manage people well you can apply for managerial positions in the Accounting Department. Experienced accountants have a wide range of knowledge about financial flows and metrics of company efficiency, due to this, they are one of the most valuable assets of the company.

Independent accountant responsibilities:

  • reconciliation of balance sheets and P&L accounts
  • cooperation with regulatory bodies such as Prudential Regulation Authority PRA, Financial Accounting Standard Bodies and International Accounting Standards Board and Financial Accounting Standards Boards.
  • posting manual journals into general ledger
  • managing junior accountants and interns
  • verifying, posting and reconciling accounts payable and receivable
  • analyzing financial statement
  • assisting with audits and yearly tax returns
  • ensure that the company complies with applied standards IAS IFRS or GAAP
  • managing stress situations, crisis and decisions stuck and conflicts between employees
