Christian Bale is an absolutely brilliant actor and it is well known for his controversial performances. The machinist is one of the most amazing movies I have ever seen. Bale absolutely took it to the next level and his performance was truly remarkable. I know that probably most of you already watched “The Machinist”, but for those of you who didn’t, today go out there rent the Movie or buy the movie and watch it. I assure you, you will not be bored.

I do not want to give any spoilers here, so I won’t talk too much about the movie’s action and I will talk more about the feelings and the sensations the movie transmitted.

The moment I played the movie and I saw Christian Bale’s transformation I was absolutely shocked. I order for you to understand better why I keep emphasising with Bale’s transformation let me give you an example. It was in 2002 when “Raging of fire” came out and Bale was packed with muscles. His physique was in impeccable form. Then only 2 years later came “The machinist” and he looked like this:

How can you not be shocked?

Now let’s focus on the movie action for a little bit.

By day Bale’s emaciated loner operates heavy machinery, by night he finds solace with a call girl (Jennifer Jason Leigh), and in between he courts a single mom (Aitana Sanchez-Gijon)—he’s got the time because he literally doesn’t sleep. The drama is accentuated by the cool blues and greys colors used during the movie. The protagonist ends up in a lot of trouble and never manages to control himself. His life is a tumultuous one and he sees no solution for his problems.

The movie really portrays the human condition. We as human beings, are fragile and if there is something wrong with our “engine” then we risk hurting us and the people around us.
