Lake Latoka (latoka.com) in Alexandria is a clean lake now and has always been. Whenever the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources tests water clarity Latoka has one of the better scores in Douglas County. For that reason and others such as being a short distance to downtown Alexandria, Latoka has fans.

Late in September I recorded video showing the western shoreline of the lake. The video begins at the north end near Latoka Beach and travels south along the west side of the lake. At the beginning you will see the neighborhood of Bay Hill Estates. It is a very nice neighborhood setback from the lake on high ground where the homeowners have shared ownership of a lot with Latoka shoreline. It is next to the Public Access that at the northwest corner of the lake.

Along the path north it is possible to see the homes of Latoka Beach Road and West Latoka Drive. In addition to Bay Hill Estate there are other appealing neighborhoods off the lake. These properties are all within District 206.

As I mentioned earlier, Lake Latoka enjoys close proximity to downtown Alexandria. When I was in grade school I spent a lot of time along West Latoka Drive as I had a good friend that lived at it. It was an easy bike ride from the Alexandria street I grew up at (Douglas Street) and is an even easier ride now with the addition of bike lanes.
