Atmospheric corrosion is common among offshore pipes. During a routine inspection, severe atmospheric corrosion was noted on a 2” branch connected to a 10” hydrocarbon / water line. Surface preparation was not possible due to the severe corrosion, so NRI recommended a perimeter seal enclosure to encapsulate the entire branch leg.
