A few facts about search engines


There is a high chance that your home page is search engine powered. In other words, the first thing that probably pops up when you open your internet browser is Google, Yahoo or MSN. As a result, I have decided to compile a list of facts regarding search engines in order to help you realize the importance of search engine optimization (seo) and the benefits that it can bring to your online business, if your website or blog is ranked on the first page of dominant search engines.

  • An approximate 93% of customers globally make use of search engines to find and access websites and other related blogs.Source: Forrester Research.
  • 57% if internet users browse the web everyday and 46% of those internet users browse for product information and services.Source: SRI.
  • Drawing a large loyal base to your website or blog is achieved through high engine rankings.Source: Forrester Research Media Field Study.
  •  85% of internet traffic is driven through search engines but yet 75% of this traffic never scrolls past the first page. Source: 7th WWW User survey- Georgia Institute of Technology.
  •  Users looking for products online are likely to enter what they looking for into search engines. Only a minute percentage of users (approx. 5%) will go into shopping channels or click on banner ads. Source: March 2001 Jupiter Media Metrix and NPD
