Jungheinrich going towards digitization in the supply chain space

With an aim to redefine the manufacturing sectors in a better way, Jungheinrich plans to adapt the latest trends in order to remain a leader in the industry.

Through the implementation of lithium-ion batteries, Jungheinrich introduced new forklift trucks such as the EKS 412s and EFG series in 2019. Lithium-ion provides a compelling alternative to diesel or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and batteries also allow new charging models that not only provide a chance to reduce downtime, but also allow businesses to introduce more employee welfare policies that are becoming increasingly important in a labor starved market. Boasting the largest range of lithium-ion powered trucks available on the market, it’s clear that Jungheinrich is continuing to set the bar for the opposition to follow. Steve Richmond, Director of Logistics UK at Jungheinrich, affirms the importance of this new technology to his company.

UPS flies the commercial drones to deliveries

UPS the biggest logistics industry is establishing a new subsidiary business called ‘Flight Forward’ in an effort to support and scale the launch of its own commercial drone delivery program.

This is currently the highest certification that the FAA offers and, if the application is approved, it would pave the way for UPS to operate one of the few commercial drone delivery programs in the US. The ultimate goal is to use the new subsidiary to drive growth through revenue-generating drone deliveries. According to Bala Ganesh, the vice president of the Advanced Technology Group at UPS, this program primarily focus is on “healthcare, just-in-time, real urgent movements, life-changing events in hard-to-reach locations.” UPS is currently conducting a drone delivery test program in North Carolina, transporting hospital samples. It hopes to expand its healthcare drone services nationwide.
