Rimowa is recognized all around the world for its engineering perfection and unique style, and is one of our best sellers here at Kaehler. Already at the peak of the luggage pyramid, it was recently purchased by LVMH - better known as Louis Vuitton - which is sure to strengthen Rimowa's position as a leader in the luxury luggage industry.

Some important changes are coming to Rimowa soon, so we thought we'd keep you up to date going into the holiday season and looking ahead to 2017.

1) Electronic tags are now available at Kaehler

We've received our first shipments of Rimowa's updated collections featuring Electronic Tags, which allow you to check in luggage remotely with your smartphone on select airlines. Learn more about electronic tags here.

Rimowa luggage with Electronic Tags Installed will gradually become available on checked bags in most collections, but are limited to Topas and Limbo at this time.  You can purchase electronic tag luggage online or at select stores.

2) Electronic tags to become standard on most Rimowa collections

Ultimately, all Rimowa checked luggage except the ultra-light Salsa Air and Classic Flight lines will come with electronic tags installed. This means that our current stock of Rimowa polycarbonate and aluminum luggage without electronic tags are the last of these models that will be manufactured and there will effectively be a price increase on future stock.

3) The size of Rimowa carry-ons will change. 

Rimowa is phasing out manufacture of the 21.7 x 15.7 x 7.9 carry-on size. From then on, the international-size carry-ons will be the slightly larger 21.7 x 15.7 x 9.1 in all collections, which is the same size as the larger current international-size  Topas carry-on.

Airlines have become increasingly strict about size requirements on international and domestic flights. This change will give you a little more packing space on carry-ons that meet international luggage size requirements, making them more suitable for domestic flights as well.
