Things You Need To Know About General Skilled Migration

There are several types of Visa options for visiting Australia in the form of a skilled migrant visa Australia for those desiring and working in Australia. These visa subclasses are especially attractive for skilled applicants who now do not have Australian employers who want to sponsor them for a visa. Temporary and lasting options are available with different eligibility criteria.

Many visa options give permanent residency to applicants who meet the basic requirements and are eligible for the visa, under the General Migration Australia group. For highly skilled professionals this visa program is a good chance to migrate to Australia and stay there permanently. In order to eligible for Australia skilled visa, you must have a business that is listed on the skilled business group, and you have to pass a skilled migration point test for the business too. You have to pass at least 60 marks in all businesses.

Numbers are given by age, qualification, English language ability, work experience, and partner expertise. If you don’t obtain a least passing mark, you can get extra points if you qualify for sponsorship by the regional government. Other temporary skilled migration visa options are available if you still do not eligible. Before applying for general skilled migration, you must first apply the skills selection of interest. Only the most eligible candidates receive an invitation to register their skilled immigration visa applications.

To register EOI, you must first complete the skill evaluation test and show your skill in the English language. You may also wish to get sponsorship from state or region government before entering an expression of interest and this will increase your chance of becoming a sponsor.

The basic criteria for all General Skilled Migration Visas must be fulfilled:

  • At the date of application, you must be under 45 years of age.
  • You must have enough capacity in the English language.
  • You need a tertiary qualification (usually a university degree or business) and your qualification should be evaluated by the similar evaluation authority in Australia.
  • When you apply, you will need to do business with your skills and abilities. This business must be on a skilled business listing in the case of all-class 189 visa or one of the state/regional lists for subclass 190 visas.
  • You should be able to meet the criteria of both medical and character requirements.
  • All the recipients of a skilled visa for Australia should be a medical practitioner to make sure their good health.
  • It is necessary to pass a psychological test to prove that you are a stable person with good personal characteristics.
  • You pass a special score test and do not get less than 60 points which are enough for qualification.

General skilled migration visa types in Australia:

  1. Skilled Independent (subclass 189)
  2. Skilled Nominated Visa (190)
  3. Skilled Regional (Provisional) (Subclass 489)

How to apply for a skilled migration visa?

  1.  When you express your interest through skill selection, you will have to wait for Australia’s reply to immigration authorities.
  2. If your expression of interest is made by the Immigration Office of Australia, you will be invited to enter your visa application under the Migration group of your choice.
  3. Within 60 days of receiving an invitation from the Immigration Office of Australia, you will need to send your duly filled visa application along with the necessary documents
  4.   When your visa application is approved for permanent residency of Australia and you start absorbing the adventures of Australia to build your new home, you would wish to know which welfare you are eligible of the Australian permanent resident.

Difference between subclasses of General skilled Migration?

  1. Skilled Independent (subclass 189):  Skilled independent visa 189 allows the applicant to stay permanently and work in Australia. In this case, the skilled independent worker does not need sponsorship by the State/Regional Government or by the relative. However, you must file an EOI and apply for the VO to be invited by the Immigration Department. Other qualifying criteria are:
  • Age between 18 and 49
  • Get a minimum score of 60 points in the test
  • Must prove English language ability
  • Meet character and health needs
  • Pass a skill assessment test in a business
  1. Skilled Nominated Visa (190): You may qualify for this visa, If you are an eligible specialist or experienced business person who will advantage the Australian economy, and your business is not on the medium and long-term strategic skills list (MLTSSL), but on the short-term efficient business listing (STSOL) as well as being on one of the Area/ State Migration Schemes (SMTP). The applicant must apply for expression of interest through skill selection and be nominated by the Australian State/ Regional Government, In order to apply for a skilled nominated visa subclass 190, you must apply for a visa in 60 days of receiving the invitation. Visas allow you to live and work endlessly in Australia.  Eligibility Criteria remains the same as an independent visa (subclass 189). Apart from these, there is subclass 190 visa condition for the ability of English language, work experience or specific skills as stated by different state and regional government.
  2. Skilled Regional (Provisional) (Subclass 489): A 4-year temporary skilled regional visa subclass 489 enables you to live and work in Australia to receive permanent residence visas. In order to eligible for this visa, you must be nominated by a relative who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or qualified New Zealand citizen, or by state or regional government. Skilled independent visa (subclass 189), the Basic perquisites are the same. The present passing mark for this special visa group is 60 points, however, due to the records charged on some businesses, to apply for this visa, you may actually need to get more than 60 marks to get a proposal. You need to send an expression of interest and then to be invited to apply for application through skill selection, to be able to apply for this visa.
