Public Safety careers on Display at Annual Community Expo

STC’s 6th annual Public Safety Expo will take place Nov. 27 at the STC Regional Center for Public Safety Excellence Campus located at 3901 S. Cage Blvd. in Pharr. The expo is free and open to the public.

MCALLEN, TEXAS – Law Enforcement and Fire Science programs at South Texas College will be hosting its 6th Annual Public Safety and First Responders Expo Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Expo will take place at STC’s Regional Center for Public Safety Excellence (RCPSE) located at 3901 S. Cage Blvd. in Pharr, and is free and open to the public.

The event seeks to provide students and the public with valuable information about the college’s public safety programs including fire science, law enforcement program, emergency medical technician (EMT) and criminal justice.

The expo will be comprised of informational booths sponsored by various federal, state, and local agencies including McAllen PD, Hidalgo Co. Sheriff’s Office, Hidalgo Co. Constable’s Office Precinct 4, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife. The event marks the first time it will be held at STC’s new RCPSE campus, which officially opened in September.

Agencies will roll out specialized units and heavy equipment for exhibition. Local departments will bring out their specialized equipment such as tactical ambulances, watercraft, aircraft, and firefighting equipment for public viewing.

Students and the public will have an opportunity to ask public safety officials questions about life on the job, employment opportunities, and educational requirements.

Who: McAllen PD, Hidalgo Co. Sheriff’s Office, Texas Parks, and Wildlife, U.S. Fish and Wildlife in attendance. Various local, state and federal agencies have been invited.
