“NOPD’s Narcotics and Task Force Units Investigated 3,227 Complaints, 69 Narcotics Cases and Confiscated 11 Guns in Three Weeks”

The New Orleans Police Department’s Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated approximately 3,227 complaints.  As a result the NOPD’s Task Force Units, they executed 12 Search Warrants, investigated 61 Felony cases, conducted 1,175 Vehicle Checks and issued 607 citations.  They made 69 Narcotics cases, confiscated 11 Guns, and numerous amounts of Crack, Marijuana, Crack Cocaine, Powder Cocaine, and Heroin.

Since July of 2010 Officers have investigated approximately 163,829 complaints, executed approximately 726 Search Warrants, made approximately 4,479 Felony cases, conducted approximately 59,691 vehicle checks, issued approximately 29,974 citations, made approximately 4,222 Narcotics cases, confiscated approximately 1,063 guns and numerous amounts of Illegal Narcotics.

These results are from August 12, 2012 thru September 1, 2012.

First District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 673 complaints and made 185 cases including 1 juvenile for 28 Felony, 112 Misdemeanors, and 45 Municipal violations and had 1 Curfew violator.  The units wrote 142 reports, made 681 pedestrian contacts and had 131 field interviews.  The units stopped 352 vehicles, issued 169 citations and made 37 traffic arrests.  They executed 4 Search Warrants, and made 26 Narcotics Cases Confiscating 2 Guns, Narcotics and $2,060.60 in cash.                                      

Second District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 169 complaints and 6 previous complaints.  They made 37 cases for 35 Misdemeanors and 2 Municipal violations and issued 1 Summons.  They made 22 field interviews, 59 pedestrian contacts and wrote 36 reports. They made 72 vehicle stops, issued 50 citations, made 15 traffic arrests and  conducted 4 Wanted Checks. 

Third District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 452 complaints and 14 previous complaints.  They made 52 cases for 3 Felony, 27 Misdemeanor, 22 Municipal violations and issued 28 Summons and had 3 Curfew violators.  They made 71 pedestrian contacts, 177 field interviews and wrote 34 reports.  They made 156 vehicle stops, issued 112 citations and made 31 traffic arrests.  They executed 1 Search Warrants and made 6 Narcotics cases confiscating Narcotics.            

Fourth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 163 complaints, 3 previous complaints and had 2 hot line complaints.  They made 50 cases for 3 Felony, 29 Misdemeanor and 18 Municipal violations and issued 1 Summons and had 1 Curfew violator.  They made 81 pedestrian contacts, 37 field interviews and wrote 37 reports.  The units stopped 53 vehicles, issued 31 citations and made 6 traffic arrests.  They conducted 5 Wanted Checks executed 1 Search Warrant and made 11 Narcotics cases confiscating Narcotics.             

Fifth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 202 complaints and 17 previous complaints.  They made 45 cases for 3 Felony, 18 Misdemeanor, 24 Municipal violations and issued 2 Summons.  They made 34 pedestrian contacts, 62 field interviews and wrote 28 reports.  The units stopped 38 vehicles, issued 11 citations and made 5 traffic arrests.  They conducted 55 Search Warrants, executed 3 Search Warrants made 11 Narcotics cases confiscating 3 Guns and Narcotics.                       

Sixth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 368 complaints and 5 previous complaints and had 1 hot line complaint.  They made 27 cases for 7 Felony, 13 Misdemeanor, 7 Municipal violations, and issued 4 Summons.  They made 146 pedestrian contacts, 40 field interviews and wrote 27 reports.  The units stopped 69 vehicles, issued 42 citations and made 8 traffic arrests.  They conducted 7 Wanted Checks, executed 2 Search Warrants and made 5 Narcotics cases confiscating 2 Gun, Narcotics and $394.00 in cash.    

Seventh District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 656 complaints, 16 previous complaints and had 1 hot line complaint.  They made 54 cases including 1 juvenile for 10 Felony, 35 Misdemeanor, 9 Municipal violations, and issued 14 Summons and had 7 Curfew violators.  They made 129 pedestrian contacts, 175 field interviews and wrote 47 reports.  The units stopped 193 vehicles, issued 124 citations and made 21 traffic arrests.  They conducted 4 Wanted Checks executed 1 Search Warrant and made 5 Narcotics cases confiscating 3 Gun and Narcotics.                             

Eighth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 544 complaints and made 77 cases for 7 Felony, 38 Misdemeanor, 32 Municipal violations and issued 35 Summons and had 1 Curfew violators.  The units stopped 242 vehicles, issued 68 citations and made 16 traffic arrests.  They made 93 pedestrian contacts, 6 field interviews and wrote 48 reports.  They conducted 2 Wanted Checks and made 5 Narcotics cases confiscating Narcotics.

Any person who, after the commission of a felony, shall harbor, conceal, or aid the offender, knowing or having reasonable ground to believe that he has committed the felony, and with the intent that he may avoid or escape from arrest, trial, conviction, or punishment shall be charged with R.S. 14:25; Relative to Accessories After the Fact.

An accessory after the fact may be tried and punished, notwithstanding the fact that the principal felon may not have been arrested, tried, convicted, or amenable to justice.

Whoever becomes an accessory after the fact shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars, or imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not more than five years, or both; provided that in no case shall his punishment be greater than one-half of the maximum provided by law for a principal offender.
