When young boys act unruly, they are usually told by their parent or legal guardian to grow up and act like men.  What does this mean?  It means being responsible and making right choices in life – surrounding yourself with others who will encourage you to always do the right thing – and influence you to not do the wrong ones.  No one gets through life on their own, even if you think you call all the shots.  I don’t care if you’re the king of the world.  People need family and friends to depend on at some point in their life, if not every second of the day.  Even if you’re a COO for a major corporation, you rely on that pilot to land you safely from city to city.  If you’re a professional athlete, musician, or writer, you rely on the advice and cooperation of your team mates, band members, or publisher as your primary source of income.

Life can be abstract, even for the most stoic of us.  If you find yourself unmotivated or without reason or purpose today, here are five simple suggestions (in no particular order) to put into action:

  1. If you agree to be somewhere at a certain time – BE THERE!
  2.   Don’t cheat on your wife or girlfriend
  3.   Admonish your children when necessary and appropriate
  4. Take well-calculated risks in business and family life
  5.   Have a list of accountability partners and mentors you speak with on a regular basis who will positively impact your decision-making processes
