Vinesh Phogat on Monday won India’s first ever gold medal in women’s wrestling by defeating Japan’s Yuki Irie. This is India’s fifth medal in the ongoing Asian Games. Her category was women’s Freestyle 50kg. She has become the first female gold medalist at the Asiad.

She totally dominated the match and won 6-2. Her coach is Woller Akos from Hungary. He was thousands of miles away in Budapest during the match but sent several instructions to Vinesh over WhatsApp between her semi-final and final match.
The trick was to not put the right leg forward. Vinesh always used her right leg as a base to launch attacks in the past and it made her predictable.
