Vile Leaders

Co-written with Joshua Temitope

Leaders
some are born with the scepter
while others weave their thrones
from the silk of events

Democracy
birch tree of many seasons standing with old roots
until the lumberjack cuts it down

the heart of a Vile leader
nests unsheathed swords
which splits the sun
in two unequal halves
and slashes the bliss of broken men
while they dance to the wailings of humanity

The corrupt leader
is a silent predator
a jaguar hiding away in the night
wearing a camouflage coat in the daylight
Stalking opportunities for blind prey
A greedy glutton with a bottomless belly
