The miner speaks of the underground by Bro Yao

I mined
I minded
I minded the mines
I minded the mines forever
Mining forever is hope
The tired religion
The tried and tired religion
I tried and tried to Sing on top
But I am a miner

Under the ground I hold and hollow
Out the Earth, under the earth I know
My business underground, always been
Underground, my business the mines
I minded

Each morning I sink into the earth
Birds singing as I go down the song
As I go down,  the song of going down
The song going down into the black earth
The song of death. The song of work
Underneath the earth, smoke, cough,
Taking breath under the earth is bad
Breath, we breathe the breath of long singers
Under the earth, we take a pix axe and machine
To stone and pitch weight, mud, moist, rock
We rock and swing, sing and swing deep under
The earth, do the dance that is a hard days work
We sing

              Day do what day do
              Day overhead
Day do what do is doing
              Day overhead

Sing and swing sing and swing
              Somebody bring me my hammer
              God knows, only God knows
              Somebody bring me my hammer

There's no steel like will
There's nothing to steal under
The earth there's nothing to steal even,
Steady now, that's the song we sing, say
We crazy for going down, there in the morning
It still looks like night.  There in the morning
The stillness looks like night.

They say this underground like dying
But damm they love my song, they say
Damm that man can sing, but they hates
This underground, they think they know,
Oh lord they think they know, they think
They know this underground sound,

They don't know no Ogun, they don't know
No hammer, but lord they love this song,
The sing and they sing it, but don't wanna be
Don't wanna be like me, don't wanna be underground
Don't want sing no underground, don't wanna be
In the dark, don't wanna be underground, don't
Wanna be in the night, and that's alright, that's why
I mine, and mind my own business, in the underground
That's why l sing the way I do
