The Invisible Guest (Contratiempo - original title) 2016

The Invisible Guest (Contratiempo - original title) 2016: I have started watching Spanish movies with English subtitles from past few days and they are getting better with each Movie. I had seen Oriol Paulo's earlier movies as a writer for "The Julia eyes" and as director for the successful "The body" or ¨El Cuerpo¨. Both these movies are good thrillers with nice plot twists. Now, coming to The Invisible Guest (Contratiempo), it is a brilliant thriller that has an amazing plot twist in the end.

It is beautifully shot in locations like Vizcaya , País Vasco , Girona,Barcelona and Catalonia. Ana Wagener steals the show as the lawyer and her character in a double role is top notch! Mario Casas as the egoistic businessman accused of murdering his sweetheart played by Barbara Lennie is perfect for the role, and the way he reveals layers of story with twist at each point is simply superb!

The best part is that the Story Unfolds in Alfred Hitchcock style, it is multi layered with good sub plots within the main plot and all are connected well. The plot is about a young businessman called Adrián Doria (Mario Casas) contracts an advocate at law (Ana Wagener) who attempts to prove his innocence for a strange crime of his lover (Barbara Lennie) happened at a luxury hotel.

Adrian claims that there was a third person in the room who had attacked him and killed his lover, but as the story unfolds it becomes obvious that even if the killer did exist in that room then he evaporated into thin air as there is room for escape from the hotel room. You need to see this edge of the seat thriller to know what happens next? If you are looking for a great thriller then you must see this one! My rating is 9/10.
