The Emperors Blades by Brian Staveley (this is the real deal)

Hard to know where to start with this Book.

Praise abounds and I'm annoyed only by the fact that i find it exceptionally hard to find any faults!

(Hence the seldom awarded 5 STAR rating on Goodreads)

This was book 66 for me this year (most of them Fantasy),
so I feel, assuming volume transpires in to valid opinion, it's almost enough said when i say, as far as good fantasy books go, this is the BIZ.

The characters are great. Human. Individual, Believable, Multi layered, and each of their story lines (their lives) is interesting, relevant to the overall story, and I empathised with them all.

Tell me more! Stay Safe!

Their is not so many characters that i have to keep post-it lists stuck in the book to remember them all. That's always good. get me in, keep me interested, please don't make me work to hard!

The world is well thought out and the idea clever. And not over used or over written.

Good history. Relevant and interesting and for a change, and interesting and useful prologue. (how often do you get that!?)

It ends well. Assuming there is going to be more. It does not, like so many do, just stop at the end of book one. It wraps things up and nicely, (closure man!), and then describes (characters plan) what will happen next. Very cool.

What else? Fight scenes are good. Again, not over done. well described. Easy to visualise and appreciate.

Generally the writing is the same. A good amount of pace verses detail all the way through. Momentum!

Enough said now fore sure. take it from me - definitely add this one to your to do list, and send me beer by way of thanks. (only good beer though - I'm pretty picky)
